The second exhibition at The Stone Space, titled ‘J’use Mes Souliers’ opens with the work of Bedfordshire based artist Vanessa Lee.
Drawing inspiration from old photographs, documents and maps, Lee, a graduate of Middlesex University, uses her own family history as a starting point to explore such themes as genetics, memory, nationality and mortality.
Lee’s large scale installations are handcrafted by applying labour intensive processes and techniques such as weaving and sewing to old photographic images.
It’s the first solo show held at The Stone Space, Leytonstone’s newly opened dedicated arts venue. The exhibition will run from Thursday 20th October until Sunday 30th October. Admission is free.
